Hey there!

I’m Adrian, founder and manager of Poligon Educational.

I have a PhD. in Mathematics since 2016 and have worked until 2026 as a teaching assistant at the Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science of the University of Bucharest, and the Faculty of Applied Sciences of the Politehnica University of Bucharest.

Poligon Educational started in 2023, but it was just a simple and natural continuation of my passion for scientific and mathematical education. In fact, I’m at my happiest when I share what I know or found out. It’s one of the reasons I became a teacher.

When you read “The Set of Real Numbers”, the subtitle we proposed for this course, it may seem bland. After all, it’s just another well-known, perhaps boring chapter in your textbooks, right? How could we possibly discuss tens of hours about real numbers so that it doesn’t feel like an uninspiring school lecture?

Challenge accepted!

Many important topics in mathematics and natural science start with real numbers. For one, calculus would be impossible without them and consequently, most of physics, which is, above all, the science of change, would have been impossible without real numbers.

Hey everybody!

I’m Patrick-Joshua Biro, researcher in training and teacher.

My activity includes teaching science, promoting the importance of education for community welfare, as well as presenting scientific concepts in popular ways.

I’ve always valued highly the curiosity to ask interesting questions about various aspects of the world we live in.

I graduated from the “Mihai Eminescu” high school in Oradea in 2019, specializing in natural science. Then I went to the University of Oradea, where I studied until 2022, graduating with a BSc. degree in Medical Physics and History. Then I continued with a Master’s program in Medical Physics, and currently, I’m enrolled in a PhD. program at the faculty of Sociology, all at the same University of Oradea.

Literary Science#

Science, with their history and philosophy, is the main building block of Poligon Educational. We now propose a course that adds literature to the mix. We discuss modern and contemporary novels and short stories which include subtle scientific details that are essential for understanding the text.

Believe it or not, we’re not referring to science fiction novels, but plain fiction. At the same time, we will not require any scientific background from you, but elementary mathematics (say high school level) will be a bonus.

Hi all!

I’m Maria and within the Poligon team I teach private lessons for high-school level mathematics (IB and Romanian Baccalaureate).

I also produce popular science articles on practical, beautiful, or inspiring knowledge bites from some of my subjects of interest:

Neuroscience and its applications;

My academic experience so far includes:

Undergraduate and Masters in Computer Science at University College London, focused on AI and cybersecurity.
Research Assistant in FinTech, having developed a system prototype for CBDC (Central Bank Digital Currency).
Recently, I pivoted to mathematics with a focus on both education and research.

I am currently enrolled in a postgraduate program in Advanced Mathematics at the Babeș-Bolyai University of Cluj Napoca.

Music is communication, relaxation, entertainment, emotion. You don’t have to know music theory to be moved by a song, sometimes literally.

But even if music is first and foremost a form of art, that doesn’t mean we cannot discuss it scientifically.

Fundamentally, music is sound, which is literally repeated, patterned air movements. They take the form of waves, sound waves. Physically, they are similar to light, but also tidal waves. Mathematically, they are modelled by complicated equations, but none of these matter when we just listen.

Symmetry is a feature we all recognize and think we understand. We are so used to seeing symmetrical objects, which we perceive as easy to understand, pleasant, beautiful.

But symmetry is not only about visual elements, patterns, shapes and geometry of architecture and art. There are also symmetric words or numbers, the so-called palindromes, which are the same when read either from right to left and from left to right. The most famous is the phrase:

Hello, world!

My name is Răzvan Z. Vulpe and I am a mathematician and designer, with a passion for scientific literacy and education.

In May 2023, I graduated with a BA in Computer Science and English Literature from Smith College in Northampton, Massachusetts.

After college, I stayed in the US for an additional two years and worked as a high school mathematics professor.

In July 2025, I returned to Romania and started my collaboration with Poligon, thus continuing my career as a mathematician.
